Volleyball

Following a successful first campaign in which the Amarillo College Badgers posted a solid record of 16-15 and got their initial taste of NJCAA Division I volleyball competition, AC is poised to build on a solid foundation.

The Amarillo College Badgers, who compete in Region V of the highly competitive Western Junior College Athletic Conference, will enter the 2023 campaign – their second since AC reestablished its intercollegiate athletics program after a decades-long hiatus – with heightened expectations and under a new head coach, Scott Sandel.

The AC volleyball team practices and plays its home matches in the freshly renovated FirstBank Southwest Center on the Washington Street Campus. Away matches for conference play span West Texas and New Mexico; however, tournaments and non-conference play may be spread throughout Texas and across such states as Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Utah, Nebraska, Missouri, Arizona, and Wyoming.

AC volleyball athletes will compete at the highest level and are recruited from across the U.S. and U.S. territories. Roster size ranges from 14-20 athletes, and all are highly skilled in their given positions, with most having played high-level club volleyball, some competing at the USA Girls Junior National Championships.
