AC downs Howard College in series opener
Howard College took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
It was all AC from the second inning forward during the team's 10-7 win.
The Badgers plated two runs in the second inning and six runs in the third frame to take a commanding 8-1 advantage.
A Jan Avila second-inning RBI double brought home Payton Bush and Gerardo Prado to begin the scoring for AC. The Badgers scratched out six consecutive hits in the third frame – Watkins single, Bush single, Prado double, Cam Saleh single, Avila double, Logan Tibbett double – to break the game open.
A bases loaded walk and a Bush sacrifice fly during the sixth inning gave AC a 10-1 lead.
The Hawks scored two runs during the sixth inning and four in the seventh before the contest concluded.
Bush – the team's starting second baseman – saw his first action on the mound during the final frame.
Bret Deegan improved his record as a starting pitcher to 7-1 as the freshman tallied six strikeouts and walked two batters in 5.1 innings.
