Bowles stellar showing on the mound ends in defeat as MC blanks Amarillo College

Duncan Bowles had arguably his best career start on the mound to begin play on Saturday, but the Badger bats were unable to capitalize with runners on base.

Bowles, a freshman from Randall High, shutout the Chaps during the first five frames and tied his career-high strikeout total (9) in the process.

He ended the game with four allowed hits and six earned runs.

During the top of the second frame, the Badgers were unable to score with the bases loaded – a moment that proved to be critical in the outcome.

AC stranded another pair of baserunners in the third and sixth innings – putting the Badgers total at 11 for the game.

Midland College bats broke through in the sixth inning via a Justin Rumfield RBI double and a three-run homer by Kyle Lewis – a sophomore from Lubbock-Cooper High School.

On the mound, Beard struck out the lone batter he faced to end the sixth inning.
