Badgers blast Broncos in game three, close series deficit to 2-1

AC played spoiler to start the Broncos Sophomore Day as the Badgers took a commanding 4-0 lead in the first inning.

Chris Benavidez opened the game with a single and three Badgers followed suit during the first frame. Sydney Ward, Grant Watkins, and Lawson Peel recorded singles in the inning.

Amarillo College scored three runs in the third inning and six in the sixth frame to pull away from the Broncos.

Jaxon Smith and Peel hit back-to-back singles with two outs during the third inning before Avila hit a three-run shot over the right field fence, giving AC a 7-0 advantage.

The Badgers plated six runs in the fourth inning by way of doubles by David De Hoyos and Smith, an Avila triple, Payton Bush single, and Benavidez single.

Duncan Bowles had one of his most noteworthy outings of the season on the mound against one of the top teams in the WJCAC. The Amarillo native finished the game with five strikeouts, no walks, and one earned run on the stat sheet.
