Watkins, Deegan named AC Athletes of the Week

Grant Watkins hit a career-best three home runs in a single series during the Badgers sweep of Howard College last weekend at Hodgetown.

The sophomore’s two homers in game three against the Hawks was the second multi-homer run game of the season for the Los Alamos High School product.

Watkins tied for a team-best seven hits during the series. He is currently leading the team with 12 home runs.

Deegan improved his record as a starting pitcher to 7-1 following game one of the Badgers’ series against Howard College.

The Klein Oak High School alum accomplished the feat against a Hawks offense that entered the series ranked in the top-10 in NJCAA D-I in home runs and slugging percentage.

Deegan’s 14.82 strikeout per nine innings rate this season is ranked third currently in NJCAA Division I. The freshman has struck out 56 batters and allowed eight earned runs in 34 innings on the mound.
