Kenney becomes first men’s XC athlete to earn all-region, all-conference honors
Add another impressive accolade to the Amarillo native's resume.
Lane Kenney became the first Badger men's cross country runner in program history to claim all-conference and all-region honors last weekend in Hobbs, New Mexico at the NJCAA Region V Championships.
The Tascosa High School product topped his 8K school-record mark for the second time this season in process, finishing the 4.97-mile race in 24 minutes 22 seconds.
The time earned him a ninth-place finish and the eighth-fastest time in the conference.
Freshman Brian Corona added a personal-best time (26:36) for the Badgers and placed 34th in a field of 57 runners.
The Badger men finished in eighth place out of eight teams competing at the meet.
Mia Regalado, Mia Lujan, and Mallory Moore crossed the finish in the top-25 for the Lady Badgers.
The trio, who have paced the AC women throughout the season, led the Lady Badgers to a fifth-place finish as a team.
Mia Regalado paced the team with an 18th place finish, clocking a 20:18 in the 5K race. The Midland Legacy High School product had the 13th fastest time of runners residing in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference.
Lujan placed 22nd (20:28) and Moore took 24th (20:33) in a field of 59 competitors.
