Trinidad State gets best of Badgers in rematch

Amarillo College made a late addition to their non-conference schedule over a week ago as Badger head coach Scott Sandel lined up a rematch against Trinidad State at home on Sept. 22.

The Trojans took the first match between the programs in straight sets on Sept. 2 and the result proved to be the same 20 days later.

Trinidad State won the teams second matchup on Friday (25-17, 25-19, 25-13), extending the Badgers losing streak to four games.

Amarillo College did not record a block in the match – the first time this season the Badgers did not have a block on the stat sheet – and were outhit in terms of hitting percentage .220 to .083.

Amya Speller led the Trojans with 13 kills and Deniz Yileri added 10 kills.

For the Badgers, Madison Kellogg tallied seven kills and Abree Elsheimer finished with six kills.

Freshman Rachel Russell added 21 digs.

The Badgers record fell to 5-11 with the loss.
