Westerners outgun Badgers in rematch

The Amarillo College volleyball team's conference record fell to 1-4 on Sept. 27 at home against Western Texas College.

The Westerners swept the Badgers 26-24, 25-16, 25-19, marking the second victory over AC in September.

The first set proved to be the decider of the outcome and a dictator of momentum for the rest of the match.

Amarillo College led the first set 12-10 and kept it close – no lead for Western Texas surpassed three points the rest of the way.

Trailing 24-20 in the first set, An Abree Elsheimer block and Carli Colbert block helped tie the match at 24-24. Western Texas College tallied two kills to close out the match-deciding set.

Western Texas' Katherine Bebout, a sophomore from Tulsa, Oklahoma, tallied a game-high 15 kills via a .556 hitting percentage.

Freshman D'Mya Hill, the sister of AC sophomore D'Leah Hill, added 13 kills.

For the Badgers, sophomore Addison McLain recorded a career-high nine kills via another career high, a .333 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Madison Kellogg added eight kills and Jaron McAden had seven kills and two blocks.

Setter Carli Colbert led the team in digs with 16, aces (3), and dished out 34 assists.
