Wranglers get best of Badgers in rematch

The Badger volleyball team dropped their seventh conference match of the season to No. 7 Odessa College on Saturday at the OC Sports Center.

Without five of their starters in the lineup due to injury or illness, the Wranglers outgunned Amarillo College with their superior size and athleticism.

Odessa College swept Amarillo College (25-18, 25-15, 25-15) for the second time in as many meetings.

The Badgers' performance was highlighted by a 10-1 run in set one, which narrowed a 23-10 deficit to 24-18.

During the rally, Jaron McAden tallied two kills, Abree Elsheimer recorded a kill, Skylar Rivers dished out an ace, and D'Leah Hill had one kill.

Four Wranglers recorded a higher hitting percentage than AC's most efficient hitter on Saturday.

Killeen, Texas native and sophomore Kayla Williams tallied a match-high 11 kills via a .375 for OC. Liliana Mechura, a 6-foot-1 redshirt freshman from Lake Travis, finished a with a game-best .667 hitting percentage and eight kills.

For AC, McAden led the team in kills (9) and hitting percentage (.250).

Taylor Irving recorded a team-high 16 digs.

Rivers added a team-best 16 assists and 12 digs.

Amarillo College's record sits at 8-15 overall and 3-7 in conference heading into Wednesday's Blue Out at home against Clarendon College.
