Hargrove secures 2 commits from Tascosa High, continues Rebel pipeline to AC

Amarillo College head cross country coach Sean Hargrove led Tascosa High School to 14 district titles during his 15-year tenure as XC coach of the Rebels.

Hargrove is now reaping the rewards from the dynasty he built at Tascosa.

A pair of Rebel senior runners – Lane Kenney and Mallory Moore – signed their letters of intent with AC cross country program on Thursday at Tascosa High School.

“They were great kids in high school and they’ve continued to grow and be excellent runners. Now they have the opportunity to run at the next level,” Hargrove said.

Hargrove coached Moore during her freshman season and Kenney during his first two years of high school.

Moore placed 80th out of 174 runners at the 5A Region I Championship in 2023 and was a state runner-up in the mile and 2-mile race as a sophomore with the Panhandle Christian Home Educators Association track team.

In the classroom, Moore received a superintendent scholars award as a freshman at Tascosa and completed five college courses at West Texas A&M University while being homeschool as a sophomore and junior.

Kenney placed in the top seven at the Rebels’ district cross country meet his final three years in high school, finishing third in 2022 and 2023.

The Amarillo native was a 2020 state XC qualifier in Class 4A and placed 18th at regionals as a senior.

Moore and Kenney are the second and third Rebel runners to sign with AC cross country team, joining sophomore Gabe Enriquez, who was a part of the Badgers first recruiting class.
